Since our inception in 2007 we have had a number of notable achievements:-
Slimathon (Easter 2008) Many locals (men and women) used lent to shed a few pounds while raising funds for the development.
Race Night (13th June 2008)
A very successful race night was held with massive support from the local business community and local punters.
Defibulator (Autumn 2008) Purchase of a community defibulator and a number of volunteers trained by the Irish Red Cross
24 Hour Auction (June 2009)
A 24 hour auction was held which gained entry into the Guinnes Book of Records for "Most items auctioned in 24 hours is 592 and was achieved by the Midfield Development Association at Julian's Public House, Midfield, Swinford, Co Mayo, Ireland, on 14 June 2009".
Village Place Names (2010) 24 village placenames are being placed around the hinterland of Midfield.
St Patrick's Day (2008 - 2010)
For each of the last 3 years we have entered a float into the St Patrick's Day parade and in 2010 we came first in the topical section.
West of Ireland Mini Marathon (May 2010)
Madeline Brennan, Margaret Julian, Lorraine Costello, Anna Marie Lavin and Catherine Quinn all took part in the West of Ireland’s Mini Marathon on Sunday May 2nd 2010.
Tree Planting (June 2010)
The planting of a tree and unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the donation of the late Mary Golden to the Midfield Development Association took place on Sunday June 13th 2010.
Folklore Book Launch (June 2010)
A Folklore book, called "A Story Told to Us Last Night",using local stories from the 1937/38 National Folklore Collection and stories written by the children of today attending Midfield National School, was launched on June 25th 2010.
